(This is so so so so late because writing and posting from the hospital and rehab places has been extremely difficult for me! I am sorry! Please send well wishes to Mama Megs! we are getting our groove back! thanks for being patient with me!)

I have only watched this episode ONCE and will likely not watch it again – more on that at the end. These reactions were scribbled notes on a notecard. I knew going into this episode would be THE one, mostly because of the episode title. Onwards!

Okay, episode two, here we go –

Already the dumbest shit, but thanks for explaining Abby’s character so blatantly to the audience Craig! We are dumb!

This entire scene was confusing. Why is Abby asking Owen for a plan? What IS the plan?

Fantastic. No notes for these two. Jesse is really working for me. Absolutely loved this recreation from the game! chef’s kiss

So, the whole town is on alert, which is interesting! Ellie and Dina’s story held a lot of weight, apparently, because Jesse said the whole town is spooked. I wonder if that will continue. Also, it seems like people have REALLY been gossiping about Ellie and Joel. Again it would appear this is much more of a community than what is implied in the game, or at least how I felt playing the game.

Oh yes, there it is. Tommy is the leader of Jackson. Nice world building. Let’s see where this leads.

Yay, we got a bigot sandwich!!! Though Seth apology here seems much more sincere, which is a strange creative choice. Let’s continue to see.

Abby decides to randomly leave her post in the freezing cold when she sees two riders a mile away….. it seems weird. In the game, she was motivated by her conversation with Owen about the pregnancy and everyones desire to go back. Here she is motivated…her anger when she sees two strangers, she might be able to threaten? Alone? Strange.

Denying me the lesbian weed scene. I’ll never forgive and I’ll never forget. I also hope we get an explanation for Eugene.

So she didn’t start an avalanche, and somehow she survived that fall damage from one thousand feet, and now she activated the horde that is going to go to Jackson. This girl is doing THE MOST for revenge. FUCK Jackson, am I right people?

This shot got me though, but why the beanie stay on??????

WE’RE GONNA HAVE TO ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

I’ll never forgive and I’ll never forget. IYKYK

What is going on?!?! WHY ARE THERE SO MANY?!?! WHY ARE THEY TURNING!?!? OMG I AM SCARED SERIOUSLY WHY DID THEY TURN? NOT A SINGLE STRAY INFECTED? JUST ONE MAN HITTING THAT PIPE IN JACKSON CAUSE THEM ALL TO TURN? AM i interpreting THIS CORRECTLY?

THEY ARE GOING TO BE OKAY WHY AM I FREAKING OUT OMG great tension building!

JACKSON HOLE! VERY SCARY I AM FREAKING OUT! I AM IN TEARS, HELP!

This entire sequence started amazingly well! Edge of my seat! Absolutely loved how they showed the ingenuity of Jackson, and the entire towns capabilities. I think it showed the impressive production of this show. And how scary the infected have been made in the show.

Is this Abby realizing she may have brought ruin to the entire town frfr

When this guy showed up, the plot armor of the show got as thick as him, so I decided to just chill and enjoy. and i REALLY did! go doggos go!

Relatable Tommy running out of flamethrower at the worst possible moment.

So they out and worried about Abby, is it cause the ENTIRE TOWN is up in flames? not a single member of the salt lake crew wants to mention the town that’s engulfed in flames… okay then 😬

Ope okay, folks here we go –

I will not post screenshots of Joel’s torture or death, it’s still difficult for me, and despite complaining about the show a lot it still effected me deeply.

Quick sum of the scene –

Why did Abby offer help?

Mel is super concerned about helping Dina, and making sure no harm came to dina, which tracks with her character, I also want to note that owen communicates with Mel in this scene in a way that makes me think there is for sure something goin on. but what i don’t know.

Abby is so much more casual in this scene what the fuck?

Mel drugging Dina?

WHY DID SHE CALL HIM HANSOME? WHAT THE FUCK?

Why is Abby talking so much?

WHY DO THEY INSIST ON THESE CUT AWAY FLASHBACKS IN IMPORTANT MOMENTS, WE KNOW JOEL SHOT JERRY YOU DONT HAVE TO SHOW IT OH MY FUCKING GOD

Abby talking for 2 minutes to Joel, and touching just his face made this scene deeply different and for me deeply weird.

I don’t really know what to think of this.

I felt like Joel ‘just shut the fuck up and do it already’

I have also defended Kaitlyn Dever’s casting because I wanted to see what the creators would do in the show that would be different, and maybe even better than game Abby. My ONLY comment will be that the shot of her punching Joel looks utterly ridiculous.

Them adding Joel’s desire to get up as Ellie yells at him too was gut-wrenching.

I also thought the final blow was much more brutal. The stabbing instead of a blunt force hit with the club hurt my soul a lot more than I ever thought.

It also made the moment of Ellie crawling on the floor to him as he draws his last breath, and she lies with him, extremely emotional.

Playing Ashley Johnson ‘Through the Valley’ with this as the last shot was pretty mean 😡

Overall, I have SO many thoughts. The action sequence was fun and exciting, but I am grappling with why they felt the need to add it to the backdrop of this episode and the emotional consequences all the characters will face.

Tommy has a responsibility to Jackson Hole. Dozens of people just DIED, not just Joel. How will this be handled?

Does Abby know what she unleashed on a completely innocent group of people in pursuit of her revenge?

Is this supposed to be a parallel for Seattle?

Mostly – how did they make Abby Anderson so much more unlikeable? 😔

episode three VERY soon i swear 😉
